July 8th Writing Salon!

Pull up a comfy chair, pour your favorite beverage, and join a virtual circle of storytellers for an evening of shared words and creative camaraderie.

What’s a Writing Salon?
Our salon is an informal, judgment-free space where writers of every experience level and genre can read a slice of their work-in-progress—anything from a single poem to the opening of a novel, a personal essay, fan-fic scene, or notes scrawled on the back of a receipt. Think open-mic vibes without the stage fright: just a Zoom grid full of supportive faces, ready to snap their fingers in applause.

How the night flows

6:55 PM Zoom doors open—say hello, test your mic, settle in

7:05 PM Welcome + quick ground-rules (respect, confidentiality, positivity)

7:15 PM Reading rounds – each participant gets up to 5 minutes to share

8:30 PM Open floor for shout-outs, questions, resource sharing

8:50 PM Final reflections + next-steps pep talk

9:00 PM Farewell, keep writing!

Why drop in?

  • Safe, inclusive atmosphere – we celebrate queer, trans, BIPOC, disabled, and marginalized voices.

  • Instant feedback (if you want it) – gentle, constructive responses from fellow creatives.

  • Fresh inspiration – hearing others read often sparks your next line or scene.

  • Accountability – a deadline to polish a page and the momentum to keep going.

How to prep

  1. Pick a piece up to ~750 words (5 minutes or less aloud).

  2. Check your lighting and audio so we can see and hear you shine, on camera appearances are totally optional.

  3. Optional: bring a question for the group (“Does this hook grab you?” “Is the dialogue clear?”).

  4. Remember: you’re among friends. Perfection not required—progress celebrated!

Ready to share your words?
Reserve your free spot below—space is limited so every voice gets a chance at the mic.
